Baking a Red Velvet Cake

Here is a lesson plan involving baking. This video will make your mouth water…this Red Velvet Cake looks delicious!

Red Velvet by Ofelia from Gonzalo Posada León on Vimeo.

Lesson plan:
1. Have students watch video and write down ingredients.
What are the ingredients names in English? Do all countries measure the same way?
2. Questions for discussion:
Did this Red Velvet cake look good to you?
What kind of things do you like to bake?
What is the difference between baking and cooking? Can you cook a cake?

3. Homework:
Find a recipe that you like. Translate it and bring it in for the class.

Future activities:
Have a pot-luck for lunch, and each student can make the recipe they translated for the class, and everybody can enjoy!
